During this tour I will take you across some villages high up in the mountains, before we descend into a breathtaking valley. Here we will spend the night in a local homestay.

Day 1

The trek starts in Sapa, from where we will be walking quite steep uphill the first hour. When we leave Sapa behind us, we'll come through parts with forest. When we get higher up in the mountains the road will be more flat. We'll walk through grasslands where we are likely to see grazing horses. From here we walk to a small village called Sa Seng where we can have a local lunch with a Hmong family.

From Sa Seng we slowly descend to the village of Hang Da. You will enjoy stunning views on on the Muong Hoa Valley with it's beautiful ricefields. From Hang Da we walk to Giang Ta Chai. We will have dinner and spend the night with a local family in this village.

Day 2

After a breakfast in the homestay we continue the tour. In Giang Ta Chai you have the oppurtunity to visit a waterfall before we continue the walk to the next village. We will be walking uphill untill we reach the village of Su Pan. From here you'll have beautiful views on the ricefields below and the mountains above us.

In Su Pan we have a well deserved lunch. From here you'll have the choice to get picked up to go back to Sapa or continue the trek to Ban Den or Ban Ho.

This tour includes 2 lunches, 1 breakfasts, 1 diners, 1 nights in a Homestay, the village entree fees and transport back to Sapa.

Because I would like to give you an insight in the culture of the ethnic minority tribes in Vietnam it is possible to have a traditional lunch in a local house, prepared by the family. You will get to try traditional dishes of the specific minority group. The costs of a local lunch are usually a bit higher then in a restaurant because of the ingredients and the work for the family. With this tour an optional local lunch is included in the price.

Bring good shoes, the trails can be quite slippery. Also a Waterproof Jacket, comfortable clothes and mosquito repellent are recommended.

The homestays

In the area around Sapa there is a wide variety of homestays. Some of them are traditional local houses with a few extra beds. Here you stay with just the family and enjoy a real authentic experience. Usually these homestays do not have comforts like a western toilet or a (hot) shower.

Other homestays are more like simple guesthouses in the village, which you will share with other travellers. The bigger homestays have hot showers and western style toilets. You still stay in an ethnic minority village surrounded by traditional families, so you will have the chance to experience the village life in it’s full glory.

Before we start the trek I will discuss the different options with you, so you can choose the homestay to your like. If you have any questions about the homestay, please let me know.
