In this three-day trekking tour I will bring you to the village of Ban Ho. Before we arrive there we will cross mountains, forrest, villages and valleys with stunning ricefields.
We start this three-day trekking tour in Sapa. When we leave town, we will be walking uphill for the first part. We walk through forest while we can see Sapa beneath us if we look behind. When we get higher up in the mountains the road will be more flat. We'll walk through grasslands with horses. After a few hours walking we arive in Sa Seng. A small village high up in the mountains, mostly inhabited by the Black Hmong ethnic minority. Here we will have a lunch with a local family.
After lunch we slowly descend to the village of Hang Da. From here we will have stunning views on the Muong Hoa Valley with it's beautiful ricefields. You can see villages like Ta Van and Lao Chai, where I was born. From Hang Da we walk to Giang Ta Chai where we will spend the night. Before dinner you will have time to explore the village or watch the family prepare a meal.
After a breakfast in the homestay we continue the tour. In Giang Ta Chai you have the oppurtunity to visit a waterfall before we continue the walk to the next village. We will be walking uphill untill we reach the village of Su Pan. From here you'll have beautiful views on the ricefields below and the mountains above us.
In Su Pan we will have a lunch. After lunch, we walk to the village of Ban Ho where we will spend the night in the homestay of a local Tay minority family. Ban Ho is a beautiful village with stilthouses and a small waterfall where you can swim. The night you will spend in one of the traditional stilthouses, where we will enjoy dinner as well.
The next morning we will continue the trek from Ban Ho. We walk to a village called Nam Toong (about 3km from Ban Ho). Here you can watch the Red Dzao minority and learn about their culture. The Red Dzao are famous for the Red Scarfs they wear on their head.
After visiting Nam Toong we walk back to Ban Ho, where we will have lunch. After lunch transportation will be waiting for you to bring you back to Sapa.
This tour includes 3 lunches, 2 breakfasts, 2 diners, 2 nights in a Homestay, the village entree fees and transport back to Sapa.
LOCAL LUNCH INCLUDED
Because I would like to give you an insight in the culture of the ethnic minority tribes in Vietnam it is possible to have a traditional lunch in a local house, prepared by the family. You will get to try traditional dishes of the specific minority group. The costs of a local lunch are usually a bit higher then in a restaurant because of the ingredients and the work for the family. With this tour an optional local lunch is included in the price.
Bring good shoes, the trails can be quite slippery. Also a Waterproof Jacket, comfortable clothes and mosquito repellent are recommended.
Walk all the way to the village of Ban Ho and come across astonishing landscapes

In the area around Sapa there is a wide variety of homestays. Some of them are traditional local houses with a few extra beds. Here you stay with just the family and enjoy a real authentic experience. Usually these homestays do not have comforts like a western toilet or a (hot) shower.
Other homestays are more like simple guesthouses in the village, which you will share with other travellers. The bigger homestays have hot showers and western style toilets. You still stay in an ethnic minority village surrounded by traditional families, so you will have the chance to experience the village life in it’s full glory.
Before we start the trek I will discuss the different options with you, so you can choose the homestay to your like. If you have any questions about the homestay, please let me know.
